Edson Lopes is a great player I recently found on Youtube. He has fluent technique (makes it look really easy, I’m jealous!), a wonderful sound, and a great repertoire. Here are a couple of my favorite videos:
This is a fun piece by Paul Chasman, a guitarist/composer living in Oregon (notice the extra strings). I have a few of his CDs and I would recommend checking him out if you have the chance. My personal favorites are the Sonatas and Songs from the Bay. I would also recommend checking out his My Page Archives. There he gives all kinds of advise on composing and playing the guitar.
Highly recommend!

Tommy Emmanuel is one of my favorite guitarists to watch on youtube. He truly seems to enjoy what he is doing. In this video he is giving a workshop in Amsterdam about performing, technique, practicing, etc. I believe what he is trying (successfully I believe) to do is inspire the audience.
At about the 13 second mark he states:
“I’m actually an example to you of somebody who makes a living of playing the guitar.”
Later (5:36) on he gives advice on getting noticed. Tommy’s advice is: “Get good. If you’re good we’ll all notice you.”
I had the pleasure of seeing Tommy in concert back in September (2012). It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend seeing him. He tours constantly so there is a chance he will be in your area.
Here is a video of Tommy “getting good.”
Enjoy!

And the answer is:
Angel Romero!!!
Angel, of course, comes from a family of great guitarist. He is also a conductor (I didn’t know that, bad Rob! bad Rob!).
Here is a video of him conducting a symphony by Beethoveen (No. 5):
Here is a video of him warming up (I’d say he is warm):
Finally, here is a video of him playing Fantasia by his father, Celedonio Romero. At least I think this is the piece, it is not mentioned in the video info.
(Music starts at the 1:99 mark)

I must admit, it has only been in the last couple of years that I have become a fan of David Russell. Not that I had anything against him, just hadn’t heard anything from him. That changed when I came across these two videos:
Spatter the Dew:
The Bucks of Oranmore:
My favorite David Russell cd is “Music of Torroba.”
I would say this cd is in my top 10 of all-time favorite classical guitar cds. It’s a combination of David’s wonderful playing, gorgeous miniatures by Torroba, and superb recording.
